Su especial programa educativo y sus actuaciones teatrales y conciertos, hacen del Colegio Alemán es un lugar importante para el intercambio cultural en Madrid. En este gran complejo, las diversas áreas de uso de la escuela son legibles como unidades claramente definidas. Los edificios individuales - el jardín de infancia, la escuela primaria y la escuela secundaria – dan cada una a un patio interior. Todos los patios se abren al paisaje circundante y a las vista de las montañas. Reflejando tanto los requerimientos del programa arquitectónico como la topografía del sitio, los edificios desarrollan situaciones espaciales diferenciadas, pero todos los componentes se unen en un conjunto orgánico con fuerte presencia escultórica. Las áreas comunes – los patios, la cafetería, una sala de conciertos / auditorio con 750 asientos y el pabellón deportivo - conectan los edificios escolares individuales. 

With its special educational program and evening theatre performances and concerts, the German School is an important site for cultural exchange in Madrid. In this large complex, the school’s diverse areas of use are legible as clearly defi ned units. The individual buildings – the kindergarten, the primary school and the secondary school – each frame an inner courtyard. All patios open up to the surrounding landscape and a vista of the snow-covered mountains. Reflecting both the requirements of the architectural brief and the topography of the site, the buildings develop differentiated spatial situations, yet all components unite into an organic ensemble with strong sculptural presence. The common areas – the “foyer courtyards”, the cafeteria, a concert hall/auditorium with 750 seats and the sports hall – connect the individual school buildings.
