En un patio interior, cerca del centro de la ciudad de Utrecht, se sitúa este espacio de recreo dedicado a los niños del barrio.

El viejo edificio existente debía de ser reemplazado por uno nuevo, y se demandó un proyecto que no fuera caro, pero sí duradero, seguro, que mejorara el que había y que atrajese a los niños. El edificio cuenta con un área reservada para una escuela infantil. Por medio de tabiques móviles los distintos espacios pueden unirse y permitir la realización de diferentes actividades.
La premisa de un presupuesto muy ajustado empujó a la introducción de un colorido muy alegre. La relación entre el interior y el exterior se refuerza de una manera lúdica a través de las diferentes aberturas y ventanas. En la parte delantera del edificio, una gran marquesina define un espacio resguardado para el juego al aire libre. La madera natural y los alegres colores determinan el ambiente acogedor y confortable del interior.  

In an inner courtyard close to the city center of Utrecht a playground is situated for the children of the neighborhood.
The old existing building on the playground was to be replaced by a new one. The brief called for a modest, durable and safe new building that would upgrade the playground and appeal to children. The building has separate spaces for a kindergarten. By means of a movable partition the spaces can be interlinked to provide space for different activities and multiple uses.
Within a very tight budget a colorful light-hearted object was designed and introduced in the playground. The relationship between inside and outside is playfully strengthened with specific openings and windows. A large covered canopy for sheltered play features the front of the building. Natural wood and color determines the cozy and comfortable atmosphere of the interior.

La Fundación Aga Khan en Mozambique ha terminado la construcción de once escuelas rurales en la región del norte, de bajos recursos. Las escuelas forman parte de un proyecto piloto en el que se trata de mejorar y hacer más permanentes los métodos constructivos, incorporando y desarrollando técnicas tradicionales y materiales de construcción locales.

The Aga Khan Foundation in Mozambique has completed construction on eleven village school buildings in the country’s poor Northern region. The schools were built using natural resources, and were built as pilot projects for an improved, more permanent construction style that incorporates and develops both local craft skills and locally-available building materials.

Las Escuelas 756 y 407, nivel inicial y medio respectivamente, desarrollan sus actividades en un mismo edificio, ubicado en el barrio Las Flores, al suroeste de la ciudad de Rosario.
Donde la ciudad se disgrega para transformarse en campo abierto. Donde industrias, galpones y estructuras abandonadas, se mezclan con precarios asentamientos, viviendas de chapa, cartón y ladrillo. 

Centro Escolar Antas / School Center Antas

1. Ubicación y contexto El emplazamiento es parte de un contexto urbano perteneciente al recientemente rediseñado Plan de Detalle de Antas. El área de la escuela es de aproximadamente 2 967,00 m2.
2. Idea. El diseño espacial y arquitectónico de este nuevo centro educativo se formaliza en varios cuerpos que contienen cada uno parte del programa siguiendo unos principios de funcionalidad y forma, relacionados con el tipo de edificio y su especificidad. En la concepción del proyecto se valoró la morfología del terreno, la orientación, y la conexión con el entorno urbano colindante. Siempre se ha tenido en cuenta la relación entre las diferentes piezas, entre el exterior y el interior, y entre los espacios interiores.
Se trató de formalizar el programa a través de un diseño susceptible de ser fragmentado en varios cuerpos interconectados a través de espacios exteriores. Estos ambientes condensan la conexión visual entre el interior y el exterior reduciendo las relaciones con el entorno urbano. El proyecto resultante consigue dar solución al programa funcional a pesar de las restricciones impuestas por la morfología del terreno.

1. Location and Context. The site of action is part of an urban context through the recently redesigned Detailed Plan of Antas. The nearby is not defined by buildings, with only the north to the existence of a huge slope and south of the proposed construction site. The land is entirely surrounded by streets. The area of the school is approximately 2 967.00 m2.
2. Idea. The spatial and architectural design of the building of the new Education Center Antas were formalized in several bodies each containing part of the program in accordance with principles of internal organization, functionality, form and image, given the type of building and its specificity. This conception took into account the morphology of the terrain, solar orientation, access and links to surrounding bodies. It always took account to the relationship established between spaces, between exterior and interior and between interior spaces. The intension is to formalize and realize the program provided through a drawing of building capable of being fragmented into several bodies interconnected with exterior spaces creating diverse environments. It’s a building consisting of several bodies expressed by a "simple architecture" that will build a close relationship with the exterior spaces. It was intended to create in the spaces between the various bodies the visual relationship between interior and exterior reducing relations with the urban surroundings. There was an intention to turn into how the building relates to the exterior. However there are some links to the outside also. The settlement found answers to a matrix that structuralize a functional organization of the school as a function of the planned program and constraint imposed by various land levels.

La fachada de vidrio de esta escuela (http://www.reeceschool.org) para niños con necesidades especiales recoge los rayos de sol e inunda las aulas con grandes manchas de colores. Encajado en un pequeño solar, el edificio aloja también oficinas, un gimnasio, una sala de plástica y una terraza al aire libre destinada al recreo. La fachada se relaciona con el ritmo y las proporciones de los edificios de viviendas colindantes, y su viva presencia reactiva la recuperación de su entorno urbano. El proyecto ha recibido varios premios: American Architecture Award (Chicago Atheneum), Design Award (New York State AIA) y K-12 Educational Facilities Design Award (Boston Society of Architects/AIA).

The glass screen façade of this school for young children with special needs captures the sun to bring big patches of color into their classrooms. Fit onto a small site, the building also includes offices, a gym, an art room and an outdoor recreational terrace. Tying in with the rhythm and proportions of the adjoining tenements, the school’s lively presence accelerates the revival of its urban neighborhood. The project received an American Architecture Award from the Chicago Atheneum and a Design Award from the New York State AIA in 2008, as well as a K-12 Educational Facilities Design Award from the Boston Society of Architects/AIA in 2007.

Universidad Popular Infantil

La UPI se plantea como un centro experimental para niños de 1 a 12 años donde pueden desarrollar su creatividad, ampliando sus conocimientos fuera del contexto escolar en un ambiente singular. Las unidades temáticas se organizan en una única planta alrededor del patio en piezas independientes y acristaladas. Cada taller es autónomo, conformando todo el conjunto un parque cultural atractivo para los niños, vinculado a un espacio libre exterior, protegido y controlado, donde también hay una grada para cuentacuentos y un arenero circular a la sombra de las moreras.

The Kid University in Gandía (UPI) is an experimental initiative proposed by the Municipality of Gandía. The UPI is not a conventional kindergarten, but a group of specialized classrooms and workshops located in a natural setting where kids can develop their creativity and have fun beyond a school context.

Prototipo para espacio educativo exterior, con capacidad para 120 niños. La estructura está realizada por Kite Related Design y se compone de costillas de madera microlaminada Kerto cortadas mediante CNC. En ellas apoyan bancos, encimeras y la lona tensada que cubre el espacio. Se fabricó fuera del emplazamiento y se construyó en dos días. El aula fue inaugurada por el alcalde de Greenwich en septiembre de 2009.

A prototype external teaching space, with seating for 120 children. The structure, comprising a CNC-cut Kerto frame supporting benches, worktops and a tensioned fabric roof, was made off-site and constructed in two days. Opened by the Mayor of Greenwich, September 2009.
