1.14 es un equipo de educadores, que presta apoyo a las familias después de las horas de clase y durante las vacaciones. 1.14 utiliza un nuevo enfoque pedagógico, que se adapta a las diferentes edades de los niños (de 1 a 6 años de edad), en el que todo se trabaja como un juego.
Utilizan un enfoque interdisciplinario: la fotografía para aprender a mirar las cosas, el teatro para representarse a uno mismo y al mundo, así como los idiomas y la música para aprender a escuchar. El segundo grupo, 6.11 permite a los niños desarrollar y potenciar el pensamiento creativo: se deja vía libre a la imaginación para manipular y recombinar objetos, espacios e imágenes.

1.14 is a team, a group of educators, work to support families taking care of their children after the school hours and during holidays. 1.14 use a new pedagogical approach, which is different according to the age of the children: from 1 to 6 year old everything is worked out as a game.
They use an interdisciplinary approach: photography to learn how to look at things, theatre to represent ourselves and the world, languages and music to learn how to listen. The second group, 6.11 enables the kids to develop and empower the creative thinking: imagination is left free of manipulate and re-combine objects, spaces and sight views. 11.14 started initially as a support to school homework, but was immediately turned into a program of talent enhancement, where teen-agers are allowed to experiment their dreams and attitudes.

1.14 es un equipo de educadores, que presta apoyo a las familias después de las horas de clase y durante las vacaciones. 1.14 utiliza un nuevo enfoque pedagógico, que se adapta a las diferentes edades de los niños (de 1 a 6 años de edad), en el que todo se trabaja como un juego.

Utilizan un enfoque interdisciplinario: la fotografía para aprender a mirar las cosas, el teatro para representarse a uno mismo y al mundo, así como los idiomas y la música para aprender a escuchar. El segundo grupo, 6.11 permite a los niños desarrollar y potenciar el pensamiento creativo: se deja vía libre a la imaginación para manipular y recombinar objetos, espacios e imágenes.  

11.14 comenzó inicialmente como un centro de apoyo a las tareas de la escuela, pero se fue convirtiendo inmediatamente en un programa de progreso del talento, en el que se permite a los adolescentes a experimentar con sus sueños y actitudes.

Los propietarios de la escuela, que también gestionan el programa, trabajaron estrechamente con los arquitectos, ya que creían que mediante un "enfoque holístico" se podría diseñar el espacio adecuado para el objetivo pedagógico, y que estuviera al mismo tiempo, en relación con el entorno, con el presupuesto y con los cortos plazos de ejecución.

Este complejo es el primero de una serie de intervenciones, que 1.14 tiene la intención de construir en Italia para difundir sus ideas.

1.14 The Kite (la cometa) es un edificio que se configura en torno a los objetivos pedagógicos. Se trata d una gran cubierta, una cometa que ha sido capturada durante su vuelo para dar cobijo a una serie de actividades.

La cometa es una estructura de hormigón, sin aislamiento que trabaja con su propia inercia térmica para proteger al interior del calor en verano, creando una temperatura constante.

El espacio interior se divide en dos partes principales: una gran zona multifuncional y otra más reducida para los niños más pequeños. Cada área cuenta con sus propios aseos.

Una serie de laboratorios, pistas, areneros y piscina componen el espacio al aire libre.

Las cubiertas inclinadas de los edificios que dan servicios a la piscina están hechos de paneles solares y fotovoltaicos, que permiten el precalentamiento del agua de la piscina a mediados de la temporada y el calentamiento de los espacios interiores durante el invierno.

De esta manera los edificios generan un sistema de nula energía y emisiones en perfecto equilibrio con el medio ambiente. La estructura de hormigón, coincidiendo con la forma del edificio, genera el acondicionamiento ideal para el verano, sin la necesidad de ninguna  instalación mecánica.

En el interior, la cometa se enriquece con el color y la materia. Sus espacios son flexibles y abiertos.

Partiendo de experiencias previas de los arquitectos, el color se utiliza como un código, y las paredes se convierten en pizarras o en superficies revestidas de Lego.

Una perforación circular en el techo permite jugar con las sombras que proyecta, ya sea en las paredes o en el césped. 

Los espacios interiores se conectan visualmente con el exterior a través de grandes ventanas correderas acristaladas, que permiten que exista una continuidad entre lo que pasa dentro y fuera.

Un camino o trayectoria se despliega a través de la cometa para conectar las diferentes actividades que se pueden realizar.

The owners of the school, who are also managing the program, worked with C+S believing that a ‘holistic approach’ could form the right space for the pedagogic aim, at the same time being in relationship with the environment, with the budget and with the short times of delivering.

This complex is the first of a series of interventions, which 1.14 has the intention to build in Italy to spread their vision.

1.14 the kite is a building formed around the pedagogical aims.

It is a big roof, a kite which has been captured during its flight to become the repair under where activities take place.

The building’s orientation towards south produces an opposite north opening which benefits of the shadow during summer time.

The kite is a thick concrete made structure, without any insulation working with its own thermal inertia to protect from the summer heat and creating a constant temperature inside the spaces.

The space inside is divided into two main parts: a bigger multifunctional space and a smaller space for the younger children. Each space has its own wcs and service spaces.

A series of labs, race tracks, sand arenas and swimming pools design the open-air space.

The pitched roofs of the buildings serving the swimming pools are made of solar and photovoltaic panels, which allow the pre-heating of the pool’s water in the mid-seasons and the heating of the inside spaces during the winter.

In this way the buildings generate a zero-energy and zero-emission system in perfect equilibrium with the environment. The concrete structure, coinciding with the form of the building, generated the ideal summer air-conditioning, without the necessity of any mechanical installation.

In the inside, the kite is enriched by color and matter. Its spaces are flexible and open.

Color is used as a code, following C+S’ previous experience and the walls are turned into white-boards or lego-surfaces.

An eye was cut in the roof allowing to play with the shadows it projects either on the walls or on the grass. 

The inside spaces are visually connected to the outside through huge glazed sliding windows, to allow a continuity between what happens inside and outside.

A path is unfolded through the kite to connect all the different activities which can be activated.
