Aberrant Architecture ideó la actividad “Architectural Croquet” dentro del
marco del Hyperlink Festival, un evento con música en directo, arquitectura, arte
y moda, organizado los días 25-28 de abril por la Tate Modern. Este croquet arquitectónico se ideó
para involucrar a los londinenses de 15 a 24 años en los aspectos
arquitectónicos que les afectan. Las reglas del juego eran bastante sencillas. Se
dispusieron una serie de estructuras arquitectónicas, y en cada una de ellas se
planteaba una pregunta o provocación, desafiando a los jugadores a responder a
través de una rápida maqueta de arquitectura, producida con los materiales de
estilo “Blue Peter” (del célebre programa infantil de la televisión
británica) proporcionados. Estas maquetas se iban añadiendo a la pista o circuito que pasaba por debajo de las
estructuras, y que permitía a los jugadores competir entre sí con un coche de
control remoto. Cámaras Wi-Fi conectadas a los coches han permitido proyectar
una nueva visión colaborativa de Londres.
Visitors to TateModern’s Hyperlink Festival, a programme of live music, architecture, art and fashion,
took part in ‘Architectural Croquet’, a game we devised to engage participants
in the architectural issues affecting Londoners between the ages of 15-24. The
rules of the game were fairly simple. We displayed a series of unique
architectural croquet structures around the Tate’s dedicated performance art
area, the tanks. On each structure we posed a question or provocation,
challenging game players to respond through the medium of a quick architectural
model, produced with the Blue Peter-style materials provided. These models were
then added to the Architectural Croquet course and a road or circuit passing
under each of the structures allowed players to race each other with a remote
control car. On-board Wi-Fi cameras attached to the cars enabled us to project
an ankle-high view of this new collaborative vision for London onto the walls
of the tank space.
