La organización general del edificio recuerda a una flor con los granos de las semillas en el centro (la sala común), rodeada por los pétalos (las aulas y las áreas de servicio). De esta manera se consigue que todas las funciones estén estrechamente vinculadas a la sala común y entra ellas. Esta disposición refleja la interpretación arquitectónica del diagrama de funciones y tiene también un carácter simbólico: la comunidad es el punto central del espíritu y del diseño de la guardería.

Like a flower with the seed grains in the centre surrounded by the petals we have logically arranged the common room of the institution to be a central area with access from group rooms as well as service centre. In this way all functions are closely connected to the common room and to each other; at the same time this arrangement reflects our architectural interpretation of the diagram of functions. The arrangement is not only functional, but also symbolic; community is a central point in the spirit and design of the day care centre.

La organización general del edificio recuerda a una flor con los granos de las semillas en el centro (la sala común), rodeada por los pétalos (las aulas y las áreas de servicio). De esta manera se consigue que todas las funciones estén estrechamente vinculadas a la sala común y entra ellas. Esta disposición refleja la interpretación arquitectónica del diagrama de funciones y tiene también un carácter simbólico: la comunidad es el punto central del espíritu y del diseño de la guardería.

El uso compositivo de hexágonos y de vivos colores está destinado a crear identidad. En este tipo centros suelen utilizarse denominaciones como "clase azul" o "grupo amarillo", que son demasiado convencionales pero que, sin embargo, expresan la necesidad entre los niños (y adultos) de pertenecer a una comunidad o de afirmar su propia identidad en la institución: soy un girasol, pertenezco a la clase azul....
Los materiales utilizados para las fachadas y la cubierta contribuyen a crear variación y diversidad dentro del conjunto. Todos los hexágonos están relacionados, son miembros de una misma familia, pero son tan únicos como lo es cada miembro. De esta manera se ha obtenido una imagen arquitectónica más equilibrada y la posibilidad de trabajar con diseños de carácter más educativo e innovador.

As mentioned, the use of hexagons is meant to create recognition. In combination with the use of different colours a strong identity inside each hexagon will arise. We all know the usual names as “blue room” or “yellow group” from other institutions. These names are almost worn down, however, they express a need among children (and adults) for a community or their own identity in the institution: I am a sunflower. I am a crumb. I am from the blue room….

We have chosen to strengthen the community and identity by means of the arrangement of rooms and use of colours in the building. Materials used for facades and roof support our wish of creating variation and diversity along with recognition. They are individual parts of the unified whole. In some way you may consider the hexagons to be related. They are members of the same family but are just as unique as each member of a family. In this way we have obtained a more balanced.
