Lincoln Logs fue inventado en 1916, cuando John Lloyd Wright trabajaba en Japón con su padre, el genial arquitecto Frank Lloyd Wright. El juguete se basa en la arquitectura del Hotel Imperial de Tokio, concretamente en los cimientos, que fueron ideados mediante vigas de sección circular entrelazadas, para que la estructura fuese "a prueba de terremotos".

Cuando regresó a los Estados Unidos, John organizó su empresa, The Red Square Toy Company (llamada así en honor al famoso símbolo de su padre), y comercializó el juguete en 1918. La versión original venía con instrucciones para construir la cabaña del tío Tom, o la famosa Lincoln Log Cabin, y obtuvo un gran éxito.

Lincoln Logs alienta la creatividad y la imaginación, ayuda a los niños a desarrollar la motricidad fina y les aporta experiencia para resolver problemas.

Los troncos que se utilizan en ese juego son, y siempre serán, de madera real. Actualmente en el mercado se pueden obtener versiones que combinan piezas de madera con accesorios de plástico o conjuntos que contienen el 100% de elementos de madera.

Lincoln Logs y John Lloyd Wright ingresaron en el National Toy Hall of Fame en 1999. 

Lincoln Logs were invented in 1916 when John Lloyd Wright was working in Japan with his father. The mold for the toy was based on the architecture of the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, designed by the inventor's father. The foundation of the hotel was designed with interlocking log beams, which made the structure "earthquake-proof".

When he returned to the States, John organized his company, The Red Square Toy Company (so named after his father's famous symbol), and marketed the toy in 1918. The original Lincoln Log set came with instructions on how to build Uncle Tom's Cabin as well as Lincoln's cabin. 

Playing with Lincoln Logs encourages creativity, inspires imaginations, helps children develop fine motor skills and experience problem-solving.

The logs used in all Lincoln Logs sets are, and always will be, made from real wood. LINCOLN LOGS offers building sets that combine wood logs with plastic accessories or sets that contain 100% wood parts.

Lincoln Logs and John Lloyd Wright were entered into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 1999.
