Els Alamús, un pequeño pueblo de setecientos habitantes, está situado en una meseta en medio de la llanura de Lleida, rodeado por un paisaje donde son predominantes los campos de cultivo y los árboles frutales, un paisaje geométrico, planeado y pensado, obra de la manos del hombre y la ingeniería.
La guardería se ubica en el límite entre el pueblo y el campo, al lado de la única carretera de acceso y salida del pueblo, entre una pista polideportiva, un huerto que se transformará en el futuro en una plaza y un talud que separa el desnivel de las casas y el campo.

Els Alamús, a small village of seven hundred inhabitants, is situated on a hill in the middle of the plain of Lleida, surrounded by a landscape where are predominant agricultural fields and fruit trees, a geometric landscape, planned and designed, result of the work of men’s hands and the engineering.
The nursery is located on the borderline between the town and countryside, next to the only road access and exit of the village, surrounded by a sports area, an orchard that will be transformed into a plaza in the future and a slope that separates the level of the houses and countryside.

Els Alamús, un pequeño pueblo de setecientos habitantes, está situado en una meseta en medio de la llanura de Lleida, rodeado por un paisaje donde son predominantes los campos de cultivo y los árboles frutales, un paisaje geométrico, planeado y pensado, obra de la manos del hombre y la ingeniería.
La guardería se ubica en el límite entre el pueblo y el campo, al lado de la única carretera de acceso y salida del pueblo, entre una pista polideportiva, un huerto que se transformará en el futuro en una plaza y un talud que separa el desnivel de las casas y el campo.
Desde un primer momento se diferencian dos cuerpos: uno en la parte de abajo, las aulas de los niños y el patio, rebajados por el bancal existente y con la orientación de los campos de cultivo; y el otro encima con los despachos de los profesores siguiendo la dirección de las casas del pueblo, vigilando el patio de los niños. Los dos volúmenes ofrecen un doble acceso a la escuela y se conectan mediante una escalera que se inserta en el talud.
La fenomenología personal: recuerdos de la infancia en medio de hiladas infinitas de árboles frutales, espacios de sombra filtrada, árboles perfectamente organizados con una geometría calculada y trabajada durante todo el invierno… se ha materializado en el volumen de las aulas.

Los espacios son versátiles, continuos y con una iluminación controlada. El vestíbulo y la primera aula se transforman en un comedor; las aulas, conectadas a través del cambiador hasta el patio, gozan de una óptima orientación al este con la ventana que se apoya en el bancal; y el pixelado de una imagen de unas hojas da al interior del pasillo la luz de poniente tamizada. En la construcción se han utilizado materiales industriales: acero, hormigón, vidrio y madera con dos excepciones: una cubierta ajardinada que quiere que el pueblo siga teniendo la mirada al campo y unos cristales de colores que hacen del pasillo de acceso un espacio divertido para los niños y que el edificio tenga el carácter representativo para dar la bienvenida a la población de Els Alamús.Els Alamús, a small village of seven hundred inhabitants, is situated on a hill in the middle of the plain of Lleida, surrounded by a landscape where are predominant agricultural fields and fruit trees, a geometric landscape, planned and designed, result of the work of men’s hands and the engineering.

From the first moment the project creates two volumes: one on the bottom, the classrooms of children and the courtyard, supported by the existing agricultural wall and following the direction of agricultural fields, and the other one above, the offices of teachers in the direction of the houses of the village, watching the children courtyard. The two volumes offer a dual access to the school and are connected by a staircase that is inserted into the natural slope.
The personal experience: memories of childhood amid spun countless fruit trees, shade filtered spaces, trees perfectly organized with a calculated geometry and worked out during the winter… has been materialized in the volume of classrooms.
The spaces are versatile, continuous and have a controlled lighting. The lobby and the first classroom can be transformed into a dining hall, the classrooms, connected through the changing room to the courtyard, enjoying an excellent orientation to the east by the horizontal window that rests on the slope, and a pixilated image of a bunch of leaves gives the interior corridor screened light from the west.
In the construction, industrial materials have been used: steel, concrete, glass and wood with two exceptions: a roof garden that wants the village inhabitants to keep looking at the countryside and some color glass that make the corridor access an area for fun of children and that the building has the representative character to welcome the population and the visitors of Els Alamús.
